HPL (High Pressure Laminates) is a hardened coating pasted on birch wood panels. A major advantage of this laminate is scratch resistance and provides extra rigidity. Phenol is a sheet with a black phenolic film. This is a sleek black colored foil. This layer acts as a coating and is water-repellent. The phenol layer is less scratch resistant than HPL.
